Rainy Day Projects

On a rainy day like today we like to hunker down and tend to some long neglected household projects. There's never a shortage of clothes that need mending, buttons that need sewing and linens that need stitching. But we like to have fun too, and sometimes creating something new with the leftover scraps and bits of fabric can yield the most surprising and exciting results. It's amazing how far a few pieces of fabric, scissors and a couple of yards of thread can go! For us, it doesn't get anymore exciting than working with our hands and times like these we try to let our imagination run wild. Maybe we'll end up with a small patchwork linen, or maybe a one-of-a-kind stuffed doll, either way we'll have weathered the storm the way we love the most, working with our hands and imagination.

Currently Inspired: The Ludlow Pendant

Lighting is one of the most important features to consider in any given space. All too often, beautiful spaces are poorly lit, thus diminishing the potential of the space they inhabit. However, when chosen correctly, lighting fixtures not only illuminate a room but they also bring warmth, ambience and a charisma to the room as well. The Ludlow Pendant is one of our current favorite fixtures to incorporate into a space. Both nostalgic and modern, the Ludlow combines two of our favorite elements, history and functionality. Forged from locally sourced reclaimed wood, each pendant is a piece of Savannah history. Finished with a row of modern Edison lightbulbs, the Ludlow Pendant brings an old-world charm and a warm glow to your favorite room.

Available at The Paris Market.

Vintage Find of the Day: Hardbound Books

We've loved vintage books for as long as we can remember. Admittedly, we haven't read every word in the majority of the old books on our shelves. However, we do tend to continually obsess over the old illustrations and vintage typography that adorn the covers and spines of each book. Being the history lovers we are, it should come as no surprise that old books are right up our alley. Every book is evocative of its own era and our vintage collection sparks the imagination with another time and place altogether. Sometimes we get so caught up with the cover of vintage book that we forget to look at what's inside. As beautiful as a cover of a book may be, discovering the mysteries that lie inside is like finding buried treasure. Lately, as we've been thumbing our way through our collection of vintage books we've been finding scraps of history that we didn't even know existed! What excites us even more than the historical clippings is seeing the personalized touch of the book's previous owner. Which, for us, is what makes vintage finds much more exciting than anything new.

Weekend Inspiration: Cocktail Hour

It's Friday, which means we're getting ready to kick off the weekend the best way we know how, with a cocktail and a good book. Few things bring us as much joy as finishing out the week with a good drink does. This past week we've been stocking our shelves with brand new, hot off the press cocktail recipe books and they have been whetting our appetites for a delicious beverage all week long. Though we always enjoy ordering a drink at our favorite watering hole, we can't deny how satisfying it feels to craft a delicious beverage by our own hand. And, this weekend we're excited to put on our mixologist hats and explore some delicious new recipes! Cheers!

On the Table: Campsite Breakfast

With all of the beautiful weather we've been having lately, it's hard for us not to want to take all of our meals outside. Dining al fresco is easily our favorite way to enjoy a delicious meal, which is one reason why we love camping so much. Seeing as we can't head to the mountains for an outdoor excursion at the moment, we figured we would just bring the campsite to us and set our table for a good ol' morning-in-the-mountains, hearty breakfast. Bringing together, our enamelware mugs, olive wood bowls and ceramic egg cups, we've set the table for a perfect outdoor feast. Now bring on the coffee!

Currently Inspired: Essential Notebooks

If there's one thing we've learned over the years, it's the importance of always keeping a notebook with you. Great ideas come and go at the most random of moments, and they tend to disappear just as quickly as they pop into your head. Countless times we've learned this lesson the hard way, which is why we swear by keeping a pocket-sized notebook with us at all times. You can imagine our excitement on a day like today when a new collection of notebooks lands on our shelves. Our minds have already begun racing with fresh ideas just waiting to be recorded in a newly bound book. Finding the perfect notebook can be a challenge, but at the end of the day, it's all about knowing your preferences. Pocket sized or over sized, lines or no lines, hardbound or softbound, whatever your book of choice may be, our new collection will surely keep your memory sharp and ideas flowing.

Happy Earth Day!

Today is Earth Day and as we all know, on this special day we celebrate the beauty of our wonderful planet and take extra steps towards protecting its resources. Though we try as hard as we can to be environmentally friendly everyday of the year, remaining diligent about reducing our carbon footprint will always be a struggle. We all need reminders in life and today's message is one that we all need to be continually aware of. In honor of this beautiful Earth Day, we've collected a few of our favorite earthy items to celebrate this day with. They may not be able sustain our Earth's resources, but they nevertheless will inspire us to do so. Happy Earth Day!

On the Table: Vintage White and Gold

There's something about white and gold dishware that always seems to captivate us. Its simplicity and classic beauty will always bring us back to it no matter what the occasion may be. If we're having afternoon tea with friends or celebrating the holidays at the table, white and gold is always our "go-to" first choice. One of the many reasons why we obsess over it is because of its versatility. Whether you're dressing it up for a fancy luncheon, or keeping it minimal for a brief bite to eat, white and gold china will bring a timelessness and beauty to the table like no other. And with today's tablescape, we're hoping for a little bit of both. Accented with our olive wood serveware and terra cotta candles, we've set the table for a simple spring feast. And we're excited to dig in! Bon appetit!
