Meredith Anne Sutton has been designing metalwork jewelry for nearly a decade. Her style uniquely balances industrial and feminine influences and reflects her enamoring of found objects, including vintage pieces, architectural finds and hardware procured from old furniture. Meredith’s work is highly romantic and takes inspiration in literature and poetry, as well as in structural relics. With an aesthetic that is at once clean, ornate and bold, she works with mediums of sterling silver, 18k gold, bronze, and acrylic to present pieces apropos for the most discerning and mature woman to the chic young trendsetter.

Behind the Scenes: Festive Windows

The Holiday Season is a favorite of ours for a multitude of reasons.

One of the most important being the chance for our talented display gals to flex their creative muscles and come up with a show stopping window display to spread holiday cheer to the streets of Savannah.

This year our crafty ladies didn't disappoint!

(of course, they never do!)

The beautiful painted creations of Kelsey Riley can be seen framing the windows, and Shelby Massey's always amazing 3D pieces make up this years window centerpiece.

A whimsical woodland cabin scene that will change with the season, complete with falling leaves, projected snow showers, and maybe a little christmas decor as the holiday draws near.

A Thanksgiving Unforgotten

It's hard to ignore the blasting of Christmas music in the already bustling retail stores. The overcrowding of garland has begun to take over mantels, railings, and the occasional doorway, as well as "Welcome Santa" billboards lining the corners of every busy intersection.

Sometimes the excitement of the holidays can't be contained and because of this it seems that Christmas arrives earlier and earlier every year. Thanksgiving, Christmas's younger (sometimes forgotten) little brother, is right around the corner. We know that there are no catchy songs about a turkey and its giblets, or that there isn't the overwhelming suspense of ripping wrapping paper; but Thanksgiving Day is a day that should not be overlooked.

This day of thanks brings so many fond memories of family moments, kitchen mishaps and triumphs, and a parting gift to the end of a beloved fall season.

So resist the urge to trim that tree and hang the mistletoe for just one more week.

A Savannah Christmas Book Signing!

Last night, The Paris Market hosted a book signing for the talented Kimberly Ergul and Holley Jaakkola, authors of A Savannah Christmas. This new must-have read for the season features a yuletide tour of the churches, houses, and shops that make up the heart of this Southern gem. Included are recipes unique to the area from top chefs and bakeries such as sweet potato biscuits and gingerbread with Meyer lemon sauce (yum!). With ideas for decorating any style of home, everyone (Savannah locals and Savannah lovers alike) can enjoy a piece of an enchanting Savannah Christmas.

We want to thank the talented Kimberly Ergul and Holley Jaakkola for celebrating the release of their incredible book with us. It was amazing night full of friends, food, and, of course, the Savannah Christmas spirit!

The Magic of Air Plants

Air plants are an incredible genus of plants with the ability to live without soil. Their
specially adapted leaves absorb water and nutrients from the air, allowing them to live anywhere in nature, including suspended from treetops and bare rock. Found in South America and the southern United States, air plants have an amazing variety of shapes, colors, and sizes.

Airplants like bright, indirect sunlight and filtered water. They can be watered either by submerging them for several hours about every 10 days, or spraying them until dripping wet more regularly. They like temperatures from 50-80 degrees. Because they're so versatile, the possibilities are endless. A single suspended air plant is simple and beautiful, but they can also be arranged in any style and in any area. That's why it's so fun to design with air plants — they can bring nature to any space, indoors or out.

Caring for you Air Plants in Glass Globes

Air Plants contained in Glass Globes have become quite popular, this calls for some important caring guidelines to keep your new airborne friends happy and healthy for many years.

The larger the globe the more care you can give your plant.

Water your plant when you first receive it by soaking 20-30 mins. Take note of the size and color and you should see how happy the plant is. Keep this "picture" in your mind.

Allow your plant to dry almost completely before placing in the globe.

Mist your plant every 4-5 days with ONE Spray for tiny globes, 2-3 sprays for globes 3-5 inches, more if the plant is in a large open globe. The key is to judge the drying time, the smaller the globe, the less circulation, the longer the plant will hold the moisture. If you over water the plant will die.

REMEMBER what your plant looked like after soaking? If it has lost that happy healthy look, take it out and soak it for 30 mins to an hour, shake, allow to almost completely dry and replace in globe.

Do not place your globes directly in front of a window where they get direct sun. Remember the glass will intensify the sunlight and the heat. Indirect light is best and some will even grow in low to moderate light.

For those of us who have more of a black thumb than green, Air Plants are the perfect companion.

Postcards from Paris: {Beware, My Lovely: the surprises of spontaneous strolling}

The list of museums in Paris are some of the best in the world. That's a fact, difficult to argue with.

I have jotted-down a list of the temporary exhibits that I am anxious to see. Really, there isn't a lack at all, but with museums one sort of has to plan. I mean some of the lines are pretty long, and it takes the spontaneity out of the whole experience if you have to plan to bring your umbrella or remember to ziplock a little snack in case your blood sugar starts going down while you wait. There's also a chance you can get stuck behind someone who you'd rather not be behind for whatever reason, big or small.

My favorite thing is happening upon something because you don't have to plan to like it. Instead it catches your eye. It could be that you are thinking about any old mundane thing, and then all of a sudden you find yourself stopped and amusing over something spectacular. Then you can like it or not without any preconceived notions.

That's how it went while I was walking around Le Marais last week. I think at that moment I was craving a falafel on rue des rosiers, and also I think I had passed a shop with a nice selection of leather, wing-tipped shoes. Those two profound things or something else on the same level of intelligence were vividly on my mind when I came across Yelena Yemchuk's beautiful palette exhibit, Beware, My Lovely. At first, I simply glanced through the window, but I couldn't continue on until I had stepped in for a more detailed look.

Completely charming and clever, I immediately found myself ecstatic over Yelena Yemchuk's series of watercolor paintings. Most famously known for her work with The Smashing Pumpkins, Yemchuk was born in Kiev, Ukraine and evidently inspired by Eastern Slavic and even Mexican history. The collection of paintings features characters of quirk, some wearing sombreros, a few Russian-type men in typical fur coats, a selection of unseductive nudes posing amongst bullfighters and Napoleonic War soldiers.

The best thing about spontaneity in Paris is that you can almost expect it to happen everyday, but it doesn't necessarily. Instead, it catches you at times you least expect it, and it gives you something to write home about.

It is becoming that time of year when we fade out those baskets full of gourds and withering pumpkins to make room for something a little more potent. Our newest pine infused products have our store and our seasonal shelves smelling a little more like the holidays.
