Gifts for the Grads
This past weekend marked the official end of the school year. It's a momentous weekend for many and as we walked through the streets of Savannah over the past few days we couldn't help but feel inspired by the strong sense of optimism and nostalgia hanging in the air. In honor of all the Graduates who are about to embark on their next journey in life, today we've set aside a few congratulatory gifts to send them along their way. Congrats to all the Grads on your tremendous accomplishments and as you move on to your next journey remember, a rolling stone gathers no moss!

File Under: Captain's Collection
One of the greatest perks of living in Savannah is the proximity to the coastline. Living and working in the downtown historic district can at times, make you feel a bit gridlocked. It's in these moments when taking a trip to the coast becomes our utmost priority. While we're not avid fishers by any means, we still romanticize the activity to a great extent. Maybe we've read Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea a few too many times, but there's something about fishing that stirs a certain amount of nostalgia in us. We love spending time outdoors in whatever capacity it may be, but there are times when casting out to sea in small skiff seems extra special. In honor of the turn of seasons and to fishermen of the past and present, we've collected a few pieces of nautical ephemera for the adventurer in all of us. See you on the coast!

A Few of our Favorite Things: Meagan
We would like to welcome Meagan to the Paris Market team! A native of Boulder, Colorado, Meagan made the move to the Hostess City of the South to study at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she graduated in 2012 with a B.F.A. in Fibers. Though Meagan is fond of many disciplines within Fibers her greatest passion lies in weaving and embroidery. Fueled by her childhood memories of adventure, Meagan states, "I make objects that are a platform for experience. I make objects that encourage adventure or initiate a memory. With an innate knowledge of a material’s potential to create sentiment or memory, I craft home embellishments that spark the potential for experience. The intimate pairing of materials and process remains central to my work, this pairing ends with refinement in the details of an object and its purpose." When she's not busy at The Paris Market or making beautiful work in her studio, Meagan enjoys spending her time outdoors. Her delightful personality and positive attitude make Meagan a joy to work with and we're so excited to have her on board! Take a look at Meagan's store favorites below and be sure to check out the beautiful work on her website!

Behind the Glass: Ernest Hemingway & the Caribbean
Inspired by one of the most influential American writers of all time, our current window display pays great homage to the legendary Ernest Hemingway.
From his earliest years of childhood Ernest possessed a deep fondness for the great outdoors. Seeking adventure anywhere he could, Hemingway traveled the world in search for inspiration that he would later use as a foundation for the many stories that filled his prize winning novels. With an immense love of fishing and hunting, Hemingway spent as much time outdoors as he did behind a desk. In his later years, Hemingway relocated to a home in Key West like no other. With a boat that allowed him to sail the caribbean, Ernest spent a great deal of time enjoying life on the sea. Filling his home with volumes of books, taxidermy from hunting trips and an enviable well-stocked bar, has inspired the majority of our window display. The intensity in which Ernest lived his life to the fullest not only inspired our windows but all of us at The Paris Market as well. Whether it be camping under the stars, a fishing trip, a wild game hunt, or simply relaxing with a cocktail, we're ready to enjoy a bit of adventure this summer!
Stop by soon and see our beautiful windows up close!
