Currently Inspired: The Great Outdoors
One of our favorite things about living in the south is that you can pretty much go camping any time of the year. And our latest entryway display, starring one of our favorite new finds: a vintage canvas cot, has got us inspired to pack our sleeping bags & spend a night out in nature. Unfortunately, the weather is a little dreary right now, but we're already looking ahead to the weekend &, thankfully, the forecast calls for a whole lot of sun. In the meantime, come on by the store & get inspired by our homage to the great outdoors!

Currently Inspired: Dried Botanicals
For those of us with a green thumb, winter can be a particularly lackluster time of year. It becomes even harder to bare these brisk days when all you want to do is get outside in the garden & get your hands dirty. And while there are a few winter-hardy vegetables that you may feel brave enough to try & grow, we've found another way to please our gardening urges during the winter: with our collection of beautiful dried botanicals. Although it's not quite the same as maintaining a living plant, we've been having just as much fun making arrangements of these dried beauties & placing them all over our homes. So even if you may have already started the countdown for spring, come on by the store & find the perfect way to keep your green thumb inspired in the meantime.

Currently Inspired: Halloween
It's hard to believe that Halloween is only 2 weeks away! It seems like it was just last week that we were enjoying the heat of summer with afternoons on the beach & picnics in the park. Oh wait, maybe that was just last week, as summer temperatures seem to keep their grasp on Savannah well into October. Hah! But finally, the weather is starting cool (it's in the high 60s/low 70s today!) & the residents of Savannah are beginning to deck out their houses with cob webs, orange lights, & all sorts of spooky surprises. You can almost feel the excitement in the air as young children get ready to go trick-or-treating for the first time & Savannah's more artistic residents (I'm looking at you, SCAD students) put the finishing touches on their homemade costumes. It's definitely one of our favorite holidays & there's no place in the world we'd rather spend it than in Savannah.

Currently Inspired: The First of October
We couldn't be more excited to welcome the month of October here at the Paris Market. We love this transitional time as the temperatures start cooling, the leaves start changing (albeit a little bit slower here in Savannah than everywhere else), & fall begins to really take hold over the last lingering hints of summer. As we may have mentioned a few times already, fall is our absolute favorite time of year so today we're feeling especially inspired by the colors of the season. From reds to oranges to yellows, we're loving all the warm autumn colors! Stop by the store soon to see all the transitions we've been making to get ready for fall, as well as the holiday season!!

Currently Inspired: Milagros
Milagros are religious folk charms that are traditionally used as votive offerings in Latin America, Spain, & some other parts of Europe. The idea behind a milagro is that it is a physical representation of a prayer. For example, if someone is experiencing pain in their leg, a milagro in the shape of a leg would be attached to the robe or altar of a saint during prayer, to remind the saint of the content of the prayer. In addition to being used in prayer to request something, a milagro can also be utilized in a prayer of thanks. For instance, a farmer who wishes to give thanks for the birth of a healthy foal could attach a milagro in the shape of a horse to the saint. Milagros come in a variety of shapes & dimensions & are fabricated from many different materials, depending on local customs. For example, they might be nearly flat or fully three-dimensional; & they can be constructed from a number of materials including gold, silver, tin, lead, wood, bone, or wax. In Spanish, the word milagro literally means miracle or surprise.
From larger reproductions of milagros to more traditional milagro charms, we have a great collection of these fascinating objects here at the Paris Market. Stop by soon to see them for yourself!

Currently Inspired: The Color Blue
Although it's Monday, that's not why we're feeling blue. Here at The Paris Market, we love the color blue for its soothing, harmonious effect. Whether we're burning one of our Aquiesse Shoreline soy candles or drinking a nice, warm cup of coffee in one of our blue bisqueware mugs, we can't help but feel calm when blue is in sight. Using our vintage books or linen napkins in shades of blue make great, contrasting pops of color in a room that is otherwise decorated in warmer colors. Be sure to stop by the store soon so you can start feeling blue for all the right reasons.

Currently Inspired: Children's Books
With school right around the corner, it's time to start cracking open the books, but here at the Paris Market, we like to keep learning fun. From books full of beautifully illustrated fables to books full of singing games to pop-up books about the circus, we've got something to make every little Paris Marketeer happy! Be sure to bring the little ones to the store soon to check out our collection & find that book that they just can't wait to crack open.
