Savannah's Fashion Night

In case you couldn't make it downtown last night, Savannah's Fashion Night was truly a wonderful evening filled with delicious food, good friends, lively music and of course, great fashion. The night started off with a bang and we continued to have a great turn out throughout the rest of the evening. We would just like to say thank you to Back in the Day Bakery and Susie Brown for all the delicious treats. And a big thank you to Erica Wilson of Found Jewelry, Meredith Anne Sutton and the ladies of BleuBelle Boutique for joining us last night with your amazing pop-up shops! And to everyone else who stopped by, thank you! We love being part of the wonderful community that is Savannah. Enjoy the photos below!

Postcards from Paris: {les habitants du village}

Often I remark negatively on routine, but on the other hand routine can be reminder of the secure things in our lives. Waking up with the sun pouring in through my glass ceiling has been something extraordinary these past couple of days, and I’ve made it my routine to visit the neighbourhood boulangerie to pick up something for my petit dejeuner. Since everyone is back from holiday and la rentrée has truly begun, everyone seems to be motivated by the new start of things.

I live in a little village of sorts, Villa des Ternes. It’s true that throughout Paris each quartier is somewhat like a village, but my little quartier is a smorgasbord of sorts when it comes to the architecture. Some buildings follow similarly to the Haussmann-style, but most differ and are unique assortments. There is a beautiful art nouveau-esque building with floral features and mosaic details on the building’s façade. Then a few doors down something that resembles more Art Deco, bold details and gold embellishments. On my little row of residences are brick A-frame ateliers. Once used as artists’ studios, the light pours in all hours of the day. Next door to me lives a painter named Babu. She offers me gateau that she’s baked and pineapple juice. A door next to her resides a pianist, and next to him an architect. It’s been amusing seeing who is up with the sun carrying their baguette as the start of their routine.

The Night Before Fashion

It's been all hands on deck here this week! Tomorrow is Savannah's Fashion Night and we've been putting in the hours to make sure the store is perfectly in order for celebrating the wonderful evening ahead. Although we're still finishing up the last minute details, it's safe to say The Paris Market will be filled to capacity with all things jeweled. One reason why we love Savannah's Fashion Night so much is because it's one of the few times a year that all the businesses on Broughton get to come together as a community and share an evening filled with fun and excitement. So if you're in the Savannah area, be sure to stop by Broughton street for a night filled with fashion, friends, food and so much more! Postcards from Paris: {un tour avec Jules Verne}

In Parc Monceau along with pony rides, les balançoires, cotton candy, balloons, an English garden and a duck and swan-filled lake there is a carrousel that begins turning at 11am. Melodies from Yves Montand about the charming Parisian life turn around with it. During the set-up, I sat on a bench along with a group of anxious children. We observed how the carrousel controllers swept and polished up the horses, and submarine. The curious submarine that is grouped amongst the other animals comes from the wild imagination of Jules Verne.
Although he was admired by the French Avant-Garde and several well-known surrealists referenced his work, he is often categorized with children’s fantasy. The idea of exploration often begins at an early age, and what better way to keep his fantasy filled stories alive than by introducing his world to children. Depicted on all the panels of the carrousel are scenes from his various novels. Either exploring the sea or around the world, the notion of a tour with Jules Verne strikes up one’s imagination and lends an idea for some explorative reading.
