Happy (Vintage) Thanksgiving!!

As is typical here at The Paris Market, we'll take any chance we can get to do things with a little bit of vintage flair. And especially on Thanksgiving of all days, it only feels right to give a little throw back to simpler times & what better way to do so than with these delightful vintage postcards. We have so much to be thankful for this year. From this beautiful city we get to call home to our friends (including furry friends!) & family near & far to this crazy adventure called life, we truly feel blessed. On the Table: Holiday Cloches

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we've been spending a lot of time thinking about how we're going to dress our table this year. And we think we've finally got it figured out with these cloches full of wintry vignettes! What we love about this particular idea is that it's not too overtly Christmasy that it won't work for a Thanksgiving table, & yet it's just Christmasy enough to work as a table dressing throughout the rest of the holiday season. Save the time that you would normally spend on redressing your table after Thanksgiving & spend it enjoying the holidays with your family instead. Happy table dressing!

On the Table: Thanksgiving's Delicious Leftovers

With the craze of Black Friday and one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year now behind us, today is the absolute perfect day to enjoy a calm afternoon, relaxing in the best way you know how. You've just finished your holiday gift shopping, which is a tremendous accomplishment, and now it's time to put your feet up and dig into some of Thanksgiving's leftovers! We love Thanksgiving as much as the next person, but if it's possible, we may love snacking on the delicious holiday's leftovers even more! That's why today's tablescape has caught our eye. With several dishes to heat up, our buffet style table makes serving all the tasty edibles a breeze. Grab a plate, flatware, and all of your favorite leftovers and you're good to go! Bon Appetit!

A Table for a Feast

Where does the time go? We cannot fathom that Thanksgiving is already next week! Believe me, we're absolutely excited to enjoy the feast that lies ahead, but we're still getting used to the idea that Halloween is already over! Good thing we've kept our eye on the calendar because we've set the table just in time for our favorite meal of the year. Lined with neutral toned linens, our Thanksgiving table combines elements of nature with accents of gold. Pheasant feathers, desert bells and gold rimmed tea cups unify the tablescape, keeping the eye moving down the length of the table revealing more of our subtle but equally as beautiful dishes. Located as soon as one enters the door, our mouths begin to water with anticipation every time we enter the store and gaze upon the table prepared for next week's grand feast. We take reassurance knowing that next Thursday will surely be here before we know it. Bon appetit!

Behind the Glass: Dutch Masters

In honor of the approaching holiday, we thought we would start celebrating Thanksgiving a little early by creating a brand new window display full of delectable treats! Inspired by the breathtaking still lives painted by all of the Dutch Masters of the 17th Century, we've lined our tables just as they have, with rich, bountiful feasts. Although the food on our table may not be edible, it is equally as beautiful, especially considering the majority of it is made from cut paper! Staring at all of the colorful fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses is just whetting our appetite for the feast filled holiday ahead.

A Thanksgiving Unforgotten

It's hard to ignore the blasting of Christmas music in the already bustling retail stores. The overcrowding of garland has begun to take over mantels, railings, and the occasional doorway, as well as "Welcome Santa" billboards lining the corners of every busy intersection. 

Sometimes the excitement of the holidays can't be contained and because of this it seems that Christmas arrives earlier and earlier every year. Thanksgiving, Christmas's younger (sometimes forgotten) little brother, is right around the corner. We know that there are no catchy songs about a turkey and its giblets, or that there isn't the overwhelming suspense of ripping wrapping paper; but Thanksgiving Day is a day that should not be overlooked. 

This day of thanks brings so many fond memories of family moments, kitchen mishaps and triumphs, and a parting gift to the end of a beloved fall season. 

So resist the urge to trim that tree and hang the mistletoe for just one more week. 

Give Thanksgiving Day the attention and adoration it once had back before Holiday Layaway.
