Postcards from Paris: { Proenza Schouler à Paris }

Sometimes there are things that take us away from what we enjoy doing most, and periods of time where time itself moves along in a manner that we can't really define. One thing is certain, that there is always a different air to the city when Fashion week comes around; like a change of season.
There is a crowd that moves about the city with a different air. Of course Paris is Paris and is always chic, but come the week of fashion the brands become a little more flashy, the heels a little higher, and the lipstick more bold.
One of my favorite American fashion houses, Proenza Schouler has set up camp at Le Bon Marché. As my current routine takes me there each day, I was pleasantly surprised to see the exposition being installed on the rez-de-chaussée. Their vibrant textiles pop-out amongst the black palette, and anyone wearing the recent collection would stand out from the crowd.
We need the courage from the fashionweek crowd to come around more often and inspire us with their unique style and boldness.
Bisous,
Reba

A Few of our Favorite Things: Meagan

We would like to welcome Meagan to the Paris Market team! A native of Boulder, Colorado, Meagan made the move to the Hostess City of the South to study at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she graduated in 2012 with a B.F.A. in Fibers. Though Meagan is fond of many disciplines within Fibers her greatest passion lies in weaving and embroidery. Fueled by her childhood memories of adventure, Meagan states, "I make objects that are a platform for experience. I make objects that encourage adventure or initiate a memory. With an innate knowledge of a material’s potential to create sentiment or memory, I craft home embellishments that spark the potential for experience. The intimate pairing of materials and process remains central to my work, this pairing ends with refinement in the details of an object and its purpose." When she's not busy at The Paris Market or making beautiful work in her studio, Meagan enjoys spending her time outdoors. Her delightful personality and positive attitude make Meagan a joy to work with and we're so excited to have her on board! Take a look at Meagan's store favorites below and be sure to check out the beautiful work on her website!

Vintage Find of the Day : Monogrammed Card Case

Today's vintage find is truly a unique treasure. Excavated from the depths of history, we've recently discovered a beautiful case of playing cards from America's famous first luxury leather goods brand, Mark Cross. Established in 1845, Mark Cross Company specialized in saddles and harnesses before introducing their numerous other leather goods. Providing top-notch quality leather products for over 150 years, Mark Cross sadly closed in 1997, until recently in 2010, the company was reborn. Though Mark Cross has been established anew, our card case is unmistakably vintage. One look at the set and it becomes clear Mark Cross' precision in making their products is astonishing. Each item included in the case is in remarkable condition, including all six decks of cards and the four beautiful brass pencils. For the card players out there, this set is a unique piece of history and a must-have for any vintage lover and card collector! Perfect for parties, family gatherings, or any social event, this beautiful set of vintage cards will surely bring hours and hours of fun gaming!
