Vintage Find of the Day: Brass Tile Letters

There are times when you're searching for one thing that you invariably happen upon something else unexpected that immediately demands your attention. It may not be the most shiny, extravagant or rare item, but something about it captivates you immensely. Our infatuation over typography has grown throughout the years. From the age-old tradition of sign painting, to the discovery of modern typefaces, we've slowly developed a deep rooted obsession with letter forms. Whether it be letter pressed, computer generated or hand drawn calligraphy, the endless nuances of typefaces have continued to fascinate and inspire us throughout the years. Fewer things brings us as much joy as finding vintage goods with vintage typography and our most recent discovery is the perfect marriage of both. Each brass tile has been carefully etched with a beautiful vintage letter and needless to say, we want them all! Whether you're spelling out your name or picking out your first initial, these brass tiles are the perfect way to adorn your house with beautiful vintage typography!

Today is a great day. Not only is the weather in Savannah beginning to feel like Savannah again, but our jewelry cabinet has just been packed full with an entirely new collection of exquisite jewelry by Jacqueline Rose. Cast from original vintage findings using the lost-wax method, each piece of jewelry brings with it a unique part of history. Simple and striking and available in a range of contemporary designs, each piece is without a doubt our go-to accessory this spring. Although we couldn't pick a favorite, we're especially fond of the necklaces and bracelets that have been cast from ancient byzantine coins. We can't deny the fact that our jewelry cabinet is easily one of our favorite nooks in the store. As we like to keep an ever-changing collection of beautifully handmade accessories by local artists, it's a wonder any of us can hang onto our paychecks at all! This week we're especially excited because we've just added a whole boat load of gorgeous new pieces that we can't stop obsessing over! From simple silver earrings to beaded ribbon necklaces, reclaimed wood bracelets to bone and tooth earrings, these handcrafted treasures are a must have this spring! Current Obsession : Monk Made Candles

These candles have been on our shelves for barely a day and we are head over heels in love! Not only are we obsessed with the myriad of intoxicating scents to choose from but the details in which makes every candle unique has us swooning! Each candle is carefully made by hand deep in the forest by orthodox monks. Wow, With a backstory like that, how could you not want to bring one of these home? Made with 100%  pure beeswax and olive oil, every candle is scented with essential oils and poured into a hand blown glass vessel. Packaged with a beautifully letter pressed vintage illustration, these candles are an absolute must have this spring!

Vintage find of the Day : Croquet Mallets

Croquet is a game that has always appealed to us. Maybe it's the relaxed pace at which players typically play, or maybe it's the nostalgia we feel imagining Victorian dandies quietly competing in the English countryside. Whatever it may be, croquet has always intrigued us with its old-world romantic spirit. As winter is upon us with a forecast that is predicting snow, attempting to go outside to play a match or two is most definitely out of the question. However, as we've recently acquired a vintage set of mallets, we can't deny our excitement over the game has yet again been rekindled. Although we aren't certain on the exact origin and date of these mallets, they are undoubtedly one of our favorite new vintage finds. Just take a look at how beautiful they are! With each mallet possessing its own unique patina and sun faded colors, our longing for warmer weather and afternoons spent outdoors has only been intensified. If spring is still months away from now, then at least our croquet mallets will help keep us warm with all of their well-loved memories.

Lux Perpetua : The Mexican Votive Candle

When you work at a place like the Paris Market you suddenly begin learning a great deal about the products you carry. You learn the history of an item, its origin, how it's made, what it's made out of and so on. However, this gained insight is only true in cases where we feel an item really matches our store's aesthetic. Sadly, not all products possess the timeless quality that grants them such a permanent residence. Some items just happen to fall into current trends and as we all know, trends come and trends go. Which is why there are very few products that have the ability to really stick around, however, the ones that do have undoubtedly shaped the Paris Market into what it is today. One such item is our "Lux Perpetua" votive candles. Truly a Paris Market staple, these candles have always remained one of our favorite items. Slightly mysterious and timelessly beautiful, they are as intriguing as they are useful, which is the perfect combination for us to love!  Each candle is handmade in Mexico using a soft wax with a wax paper covering that says, "Lux Perpetua", or "Eternal Light". As the wax burns down, the paper remains in place causing the image to illuminate beautifully from within. After all these years, we can't imagine our store without these votive candles, as it wouldn't feel like the Paris Market without their "lux perpetua" shining throughout the store.
